Unfortunately Merrybent Hill is now closed. Mainly due to the difficulties during covid we have vacated the property and moved to a property in Garrigill, in the North Pennines, where we shall be operating a B&B business following refurbishment of the new property. We hope to be open for business in Spring 2022, when we look forward to welcoming returning and new guests. Please do contact me for further information but we expect to be offering a superking room with ensuite and private sitting room. The house is a detached cottage which is 150 years old and stands at 1,300ft above sea level overlooking the valley of the River South Tyne. The Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route both run very close to the property. The images on this site now are of the new property and its surroundings.
Middle Lee is a wonderful detached house situated at 1,300ft above sea level a mile to the south of Garrigill village in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is remotely situated with no near neighbours and has a large private garden. In front of the house the fields slope down to the valley of the very young River South Tyne. Just a short distance further south from the house it is possible to walk to the sources of both the River South Tyne and the River Tees. The Pennine Way descends into Garrigill from Cross Fell and the C2C cycle route also passes through the village. In 2022, when we hope to be open for business, the George and Dragon pub in Garrigill will also be newly re-opened, however we will as previously be offering delicious home cooked evening meals in addition to our famous breakfasts!
We received fantastic reviews at Merrybent Hill as evidenced by the certificates shown here, and hope to achieve the same at Middle Lee!
